One step closer to resolving problem of lack of specialists: Knorr-Bremse Budapest trains skilled workers

Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest signed an agreement with Budapest Technical Training Center and Loránd Eötvös and Kálmán Szily High Schools about launching dual training on April 3, 2017. The capacity of the company’s Training facility currently under construction will provide opportunity to teach practical knowledge of up to five professions. Youth participating in the training from September will not only receive workplace experience but could even get job offers from the company.

Budapest Technical Training Center along with Loránd Eötvös High School and Vocational School and Kálmán Szily Technical High School, Vocational School and College, have signed an agreement with Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest to develop a working partnership and launch dual training. The tripartite cooperation agreement was signed by institution directors and managing directors of Knorr-Bremse Budapest. Dr. László Palkovics, Secretary of State for Education was present at the signing ceremony and gave a speech.

According to Knorr-Bremse Budapest’s plans, 30 students can start their studies in September at the training facility as part of the dual training agreement. Training participants will be the CNC machinist, CNC operator, manufacturing technician students of these institutions. This will be one of the largest and best equipped training facilities of Hungary, where the student body could increase to 60 by 2019, and students can earn professional qualifications and work experience in other professions as well.

“We must resolve the problem of lack of professionals as a result of the growing economy by strengthening Hungarian education. Therefore, the Hungarian government happily supports all initiatives that provide training and professional careers to talented young Hungarians in Hungary” – stated Dr. László Palkovics at the signing ceremony.

“Knorr-Bremse is a company in the forefront of international innovation; moreover, production and development are in the same location, so students can learn about the latest technologies at the Training facility. In addition to providing professional labor supply, our aim with the dual training is to introduce the working culture of Knorr-Bremse to our students” – stated András Sávos, managing director, adding that students participating in the training can even receive scholarships or job offers from the company where they can be part of important developments.

“Young people who choose a technical high school education today will have a good chance to secure their future, with the option to continue their higher education” – stressed Dr. Béla Horváth, General Director of Budapest Technical Training Center. “Schools offering dual training can offer higher educational level and practical knowledge to their students.”
