Minister for National Economy, Mihály Varga and the MDs of braking-system producer Knorr-Bremse Hungary, András Sávos and Tivadar Tavaszi, along with the MD of Knorr-Bremse Brake Systems from Kecskemét, Attila Bíró concluded a MoU to assist the development of Hungarian suppliers in the SME sector on the 9th of February 2017. Within the framework of the initiative, Knorr-Bremse helps SMEs with expertise and technology free of charge, while the costs of trainings, devices and all other expenditure occurring will be financed by the Government.

Parties agreed to establish the National Supplier Program working groups to support the development of Hungarian SMEs in multiple ways that enable a growing number of them to join the supplier network of Knorr-Bremse. Minister of National Economy, Mihály Varga said the agreement could serve as an example for companies operating in other industries and the proportion of Hungarian SMEs among suppliers of multinational companies would grow. According to plans, many more similar agreements will follow the initiative involving a total number of 120 SMEs in the program, with a total of about HUF 14 billion government support.

Currently, 60 percent of all Knorr-Bremse Budapest suppliers are from Hungary. The company is therefore fundamentally interested in helping these companies to comply with the extremely strict requirements of Knorr-Bremse in terms of quality, production management and expertise.
